P4 - Mrs. S McGuinness
Hello and a big warm welcome to Primary 4!
There are 23 wonderful pupils in our class. Our teacher is Mrs McGuinness, and Miss Doherty, Mrs Smith and Miss Dillon are our classroom assistants.
This year is a special year for us all as we will be making both our First Confession and our First Holy Communion.
During this year in maths we will cover different areas of learning such as number – place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division and fractions, measurement - money, length and perimeter, time, mass and capacity, geometry – properties of shape and statistics.
In Literacy we will be exploring various topics through punctuation and grammar, reading, talking and listening and writing. We will be developing our linguistic phonics through our spelling scheme programme where we complete daily activities in class.
Throughout the year we will be covering various topics through the World Around Us to enable us to deliver a broad-based curriculum for learning.
We have literacy homework on a Monday, Wednesday and maths homework on Tuesday, Thursday. Reading and spellings is set on a daily basis. Children will have a spellings and mental maths quiz on a Friday in class.
We have P.E twice a week. Children may wear trainers to school on these days.
Finally, we will visit Strathfoyle library each week.
Here’s to a wonderful year ahead!
