P5 - Mrs. AM McCourt
The current teacher in Primary 5 is Ms. McBrearty and there are 19 lovely pupils in the class this term.
This year in Numeracy we will cover many areas of learning such as place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as measurement, money, time, mass, capacity, geometry and statistics.
In Literacy we will be focusing on punctuation and grammar while encouraging thoughtful creative writing and building on our talking and listening skills daily. Our linguistic phonics is continuing through our spelling scheme programme.
We will start our World Around Us with the topic of Space, throughout the year pupils will have the opportunity to look at various aspects of science, geography, history etc.
Every child has been given a homework booklet as well as a spelling booklet, reading record and a weekly reading book. Numeracy homework is set on a Monday and Wednesday evening and literacy is set on Tuesday and Thursday. Spellings are set daily and instructions on how to help are enclosed in the booklet. We have weekly spelling and numeracy tests on a Friday morning.
P.E takes place twice a week – Indoor on a Thursday afternoon and outdoor on a Friday afternoon. Children can bring trainers to change into.
We also visit Strathfoyle library once a week on a Thursday.
We look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing together!
