P6 - Ms. N Thompson

Welcome to our Primary 6 class page. We have 26 wonderful pupils who are committed to role modelling the school values and reaching their full potential. My name is Miss Thompson and our classroom assistants this year are Miss Duddy and Mrs. Moore.

In P6 children will have the opportunity to work together and independently on many activities linked to the NI Curriculum. Children will develop many thinking skills and personal capabilities which they will be able to use both inside and outside of school.

This term in Literacy P6 will be reading ‘The Titanic Detective Agency‘. Children will complete writing and comprehension linked to our class novel. They will also be exploring a variety of grammar, punctuation and spelling including synonyms/antonyms, verb tenses and identifying nouns/ verbs/ adjectives/ adverbs.

In Numeracy this term P6 will be looking at Place Value and Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division as well as developing our quick recall of the times tables.

Our first topic is called Unsinkable, which is all about the Titanic setting sail on its maiden voyage and the disaster that ensued.

Primary 6 will have two PE sessions this term with one of those being swimming lessons. Swimming lessons will take place on a Tuesday afternoon and the other school based PE lesson will be on a Friday afternoon.

Each evening children will have Literacy, Numeracy, Spellings, Times Tables, and reading tasks to complete. Homework should be returned to school every day to be marked.

We look forward to a busy and exciting year ahead.
